I'M GLAD YOU'RE HERE!
One of the best things about being an artist is getting to know other artists on a deeper level. So let me share a little about myself.
HI, I'M KORP
I'm a full time artist known for drawing worms and cutting stencils but I also like to teach people how to draw in my award winning Korp Academy.
Enhanced DBS.
MY STORY
I was born with a natural knack for drawing, and creativity has always coursed through my veins. As a child, I spent countless hours sketching, often lost in my own imaginative world. It wasn’t until my thirties, however, that I fully embraced my artistic calling.
I began my journey as a multi-layer stencil artist, captivated by the challenge and intricacy of creating detailed designs. My work quickly gained attention, and I enjoyed the process of pushing the boundaries of this art form. Yet, as the demands of my day job grew, I found myself setting aside my stencils, seeking a simpler, more personal expression.
THE WORMS
I stumbled upon the enchanting simplicity of drawing Korpworms. These whimsical characters, with their quirky charm, soon became my signature. I poured my heart into creating them, and my worm drawings started to take on a life of their own. This newfound focus led to several successful solo exhibitions.
At the same time I was immersing myself in the vibrant culture of paint jams across the country. These gatherings were a melting pot of creativity, where I connected with fellow artists, shared ideas, and honed my skills as a mural artist. The experience was transformative, allowing me to experiment with new techniques and expand my artistic horizons.
Today, through dedication and a passion for visual storytelling, I continue to evolve as an artist.
WHY DO I TEACH
My artistic ability is what helped me to dig deep and discover who I am inside. I can’t imagine where I would be without this medium.
As I looked at the people in my life struggling to find themselves, I realized that my creativity could inspire others to look inside and discover what makes them truly happy too.
Everyone has an artist inside. Some of us just need a little more help bringing that inner artist to life. To me, watching others create something they never thought possible is the best feeling in the world.
