This one is based on John Kelly Green’s Is It My Breath? piece and it’s a great one for keeping things simple without ending up with a boring drawing.
You only need three pens in different tones of the same colour, and most of the drawing is built from really basic shapes. That makes this a solid one if you want to get used to drawing straight in with Posca pens without freezing up every time a line goes a bit wonky.
The big lesson in this tutorial is learning how to build in stages. First the rough shapes, then the colour blocks, then the outlines, then the finishing touches. It’s also a nice intro to cutting in, which is one of the best ways to sharpen things up and fix awkward edges when you’re working with fat pens.
