Skull With Weird Creatures

We’re taking an old skull tutorial and giving it a bit of a freshen up, with weird little characters bursting out of holes in the top of its head. It’s all done with fineliners, using simple pencil guidelines to build the skull before making everything wonky and adding loads of little details.

Toox One

Inspired by artist Toox One, this tutorial shows you how to draw a female character looking back over her shoulder. We’ll use grayscale Posca pens with a bright accent colour to recreate some of the shapes, shadows and details found in his work.

Portal Skull

In this Doodle Club tutorial, you’ll draw a skull clawing its way out of a little portal hole. It’s a simple one-pen drawing with a brush pen, using wonky pressure, chunky lines and small details to make the skull feel like it is pulling itself out of the page.

Witch Hat Skull

Draw a simple skull wearing a huge, folded witch’s hat covered in eyeballs. We’ll use a limited colour palette, rough blending and wonky outlines to give it plenty of shape and character.

Skull Pencil

In this tutorial we’re drawing a fluffy skull, somewhere between a bear head and a skull. It’s a fun one because part of it is bone, part of it is fur, and by the end you won’t always be able to tell where one stops and the other starts.

Daruma Skull Hybrid

In this tutorial, we’re drawing a weird Daruma doll and skull hybrid. Instead of stressing over a perfectly symmetrical Daruma doll, we’re splitting it in half and turning one side into a skull. Much easier, much weirder, and way more fun.
