Chump Magic Zombie

This zombie is based on a piece by Chump Magic. We’re simplifying the original design and concentrating on the main head shape, using two-tone colour, shadows, cutting in and plenty of wonky lines to build the character.

Christmas Jumper Bear

In this tutorial, we’re drawing a simple bear in a Christmas jumper using Posca pens. There’s plenty of room to play with the colours and patterns, while practising cutting in, wonky outlines and adding those little finishing details.

Turkey

In this tutorial, we’re drawing a simple Christmas dinner turkey and using it to practise some of the fundamentals of drawing with Posca pens. We’ll work through double lining, shadows, highlights and those finishing touches that bring everything together.

Monster Maker

We’re using the Monster Maker worksheet to build a completely unscripted monster, picking a body, nose, eyes and mouth before bringing it together with Poscas. The idea is to try different combinations, play around with the size of the features and see what sort of weird character comes out.

One-Eyed Monster

We’re drawing a simple one-eyed monster with a big eyelid, chunky teeth and loads of horns. Using a light and dark version of each colour adds some easy shadows and highlights, then you can finish it with spots, drips, hair and whatever other weird details you want.

Zentangle Fish

We’re drawing a simple fish with Poscas and filling it with colourful Zentangle-style patterns. Different pen sizes and repeating lines, waves and scales add loads of detail without making the drawing too complicated.

Venom

We’re drawing Venom as a big drippy monster, with chunky teeth, a huge twisting tongue and loads of slime. Layering different tones through the tongue gives it plenty of shape before we add the black outlines, reflections and dribble.

Fried Egg Character

We’re turning a fried egg into a weird little character, with a big yolk face, wonky features and plenty of personality. A few simple shadows give the yolk and egg white some shape before we add the outlines, reflections and little details.

Tongue Eyes

We’re drawing a weird wonky head with tongues hanging out of its eye sockets. Using three tones for the skin builds up the shadows, then we’ll add chunky outlines, highlights, wrinkles and plenty of texture to make it even stranger.

Bat Wing Eyeball

We’re drawing half an eyeball with a single bat wing, using a mix of bold colour, chunky outlines and plenty of little details. There’s some stippling for the eyeball, big bloodshot veins and lots of cutting in to give the wing more shape and depth.

Zombie Yin Yang

We’re taking a yin yang symbol and turning it into a pair of weird zombie faces stitched together down the middle. Two contrasting colour combinations, chunky outlines and plenty of wrinkles and texture give each side its own character while still keeping the whole thing connected.

Elise Gravel Monster

We’re drawing a quick and easy monster based on the artwork of Elise Gravel. Her monsters have a really simple, wonky style with loads of personality, and we’re adding a little extra depth with two-tone colour, shadows and chunky black outlines.
