Ghost Pirate

This drawing is based on the Flying Dutchman from SpongeBob SquarePants, with a big pirate hat, beard and ghostly glow. We’ll keep the colours fairly flat, then build up some extra texture and details towards the end.

Dr Bender

In this tutorial we're drawing Dr Bender from The Fairly OddParents, the dentist with the massive mouth and even bigger teeth. We'll keep the shapes nice and simple, using coloured outlines alongside the black to create our own version of the character.

Fairly Odd Alien

In this tutorial we're drawing the alien from The Fairly OddParents, complete with an exposed brain, swirly tentacles and plenty of colour. It's a fun character to draw and a good chance to play around with coloured outlines instead of relying on black for everything.

CatDog

In this tutorial we’re drawing CatDog, using alcohol markers to build up the colour, shadows and patches before finishing with wonky black outlines. We’ll also add a bit of blending to give the character some extra shape.

Ed, Edd n Eddy

In this tutorial we’re drawing Johnny 2x4 from Ed, Edd n Eddy, then opening up his head and filling it with a bunch of weird characters using prompt cards. It’s all about wonky lines, overlapping characters and seeing what we can squeeze onto the page.

Uncle Grandpa

In this tutorial we’re drawing Uncle Grandpa, a brilliantly weird cartoon character with a huge moustache and plenty of opportunity to play around with coloured outlines. We’ll use Posca pens throughout, including a bit of cutting in to sharpen up the finished lines.

Powerpuff Girls

In this tutorial we’re drawing a Powerpuff Girl, starting with simple shapes before adding colour with Posca pens. Once the main character is done, we’ll loosen things up with wonky outlines, wrinkles, freckles and a few extra details to make it our own.

In this tutorial we’re mixing characters from Adventure Time and Rick and Morty together on one sketchbook page. We’ll draw straight in with fineliners, keep the lines wonky and use thicker power lines to make each character stand out.
