Worm Head

We’re drawing a creepy character with a head full of holes and worms popping out in every direction. It’s a simple way to practise depth and direction, with the worms curving towards and away from you and little shadows helping the holes sink into the head.

Bat Wing Eyeball

We’re drawing half an eyeball with a single bat wing, using a mix of bold colour, chunky outlines and plenty of little details. There’s some stippling for the eyeball, big bloodshot veins and lots of cutting in to give the wing more shape and depth.

Dead Cute

In this tutorial, we're filling a page with a row of simple zombie-style kawaii characters. We'll use negative space to add a big moon and nighttime background without having to fill the entire page.

Nosferatu

In this tutorial, we're drawing a creepy Nosferatu with huge ears, piercing eyes and some seriously bushy eyebrows. We'll use just a couple of greys and a blender to build up the shadows before adding plenty of wrinkles and wiry hairs.

Dracula

In this tutorial, we're drawing a classic B-movie style Dracula using a really limited colour palette. We're also leaving out some of the usual black outlines and using cutting-in to sharpen up the details instead.

Captain Spaulding

In this tutorial, we’re drawing a creepy Captain Spaulding character and building the face outwards from the nose without using any pencil guidelines. We’ll add his beard with layered grey alcohol markers, then bring in the colourful makeup, hat and plenty of loose wrinkles and details.
